Cancer research most deffintly. My grandfather died from cancer my other grandpa has it. And my step brother who is in high school has it. And there is nothing to do to cure it fully.

The only ones I give to are...
Cancer Research
Save the Children
Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Fund
IFAW
I give each month by direct debit & also signed a deed so that they can claim back the tax.
If any others request money I have no qualms saying no because I know I am doing my bit.

Local groups only.
Most of the national groups cannot be trusted.
Medical groups (like Cancer, Diabetes, March of Dimes, Komen) are all worthless because money that somebody would make by developing a cure provides all the incentive that is needed to work towards their respective cures.
The national organizations motivation is not to find cures, because if they did, then their huge bureaucracies would all be out of a job.
I don't trust the Red Cross or United Way are not be trusted because their leaders make ridiculous salaries and live lavish lifestyles and they are always saying there is some sort of emergency to scare you into giving.
I prefer to give my money to local group, like the local girl scouts, or school groups like the band or athletic booster, and to give time to maintain local parks and playgrounds. That way I know my money and efforts are not being wasted.

Fluffdaddy is soooo right. Did you go to school?
Here's a translation of your question:
Who would you give to?
If you were to give to a charity, which charity would it be? Mine would be Cancer Research. I don't like to give to others, because who knows if they really get the money at the end of the day?
Good grief. That was painful. Nice sentiment though.

I always give to the American Red Cross and to the National Resources Defense Council. I'm in the military and the Red Cross does alot for us, and the NRDC is one of the more serious and scientific environmental organizations.

Animal shelters, but not the RSPCA, they put down too many animals. I used to give to Woodgreen Aninmal shelter near Cambridge, when I lived in the Uk as they never put any animal down unless its ill or cannot be retrained for rehoming, I also had a dog and a cat from them, I had the dog for 14 years, and the cat for 5, she was an old cat when I got her, hence she wasnt with me so long.

Give your money to a person you see on the street, in the store or just looking like they need some extra help that day. Dont worry about what they spend it on, just help someone out to be nice.
Give without expectations and demands. That is what giving is about.

Make a Wish Foundation. They help children with serious illnesses get to do something they've always wanted to.
(meet a movie star, ride a horse, whatever)

WSPA, NCDL, WWF. Look into the charities to see how much money you donate goes directly to help the cause and not to admin fees.

I'm sure someone here can give you the website addresses of agencies that rate the reliability of various charitable organizations...what percentage of their donations actually go to the stated cause.
That you GIVE is the really important part.
Thanks for being a decent human being!
