She has a spot on her spine in the middle that when you touch it is very warm or almost hot. She cannot walk on her back legs. She is only a year old. The only thing the doctors found wrong were some lesions on her spine but they say that would not cause this problem. She can feel her legs because when you scratch her belly her legs move. Does anyone have any ideas?

Could be a possibility that:

1. She pinched a nerve and it will eventually ease off.

or

2. Could be tick paralysis. Check her everywhere for a tick. If you find one, completely remove it and she will be able to walk again pretty soon.

Could the spine be affecting her back legs? Hm, if you gently pinch her back legs... will she quickly move it away? That is the best way to prove if she can feel her legs.

Did she stop walking when she had the lesion? If she did walk before, then just wait till the lesions are gone. Take her to another vet if you think something is really wrong. Not all vets are well dedicated.

I'm sorry to hear about that. Hope everything works out well for you and your chocolate lab.

Try another vet opinion. the legs moving is probably just a reflex, NOT sure sign she feels & NOT necessarily an encouraging sign either. Sounds like a disc or vertebrae infection. There are vet neurologists. Start calling around now. There must be some regional specialty clinic for dogs. Check your state for vet schools, they often have clinics for tough cases. Hurry

growing up we had two labs, out chocolate lab always had problems with her legs.

if she's otherwise okay, it sounds like arthritis. our lab has it so bad some days she just can't walk...given, by now she's 14 years old. i think they're prone to arthritis...our vet said that if we noticed it getting bad we could give her aspirins cut in half. ask your vet before giving her medicine, though.

or, it might be a more serious hip problem. i don't know much about that except that bigger dogs are more likely to develop them.

she could have pinched a nerve but my yellow lab she was limping on and off and they found out she blew out a knee so she had to have surgery and then she blew out the other one because of the stress of the other legi n the cast. it was a bout 1000 dollars a leg. i hope it is something inexpensive with ur dog. take her to a vet.
