I am thinking it can be both. Maybe the food and the fact that he is shedding his baby fur. Sometimes, a cat's or dog's diet can actually make them shed much more then necessary. So, I would take the cat back to the vet, or call and ask the vet if it is the food. Then, for one week, switch him to another cat food and see if he A likes it and B if helps decrease or increase of it is the same in the shedding and pooping. Hopefully, you will get an answer in the next week to determine if it is anything to worry about. I hope this advice helps you out.

I have had 2 white long haired persian cats lately and always had hair all over the house. One minute I´d be vacuuming the next minute I´d be running and catching their shedded fur flying all over the house. I´d brush the hair every other day but it didn´t solve the problem. I bought Science Hill´s dry food and compared the amount of shedding and I´m convinced that of the 4 flavours (tuna, rabbit, chicken, lamb) the one that creates more problems with their hair is the food that has contains fish and even creates hair balls. Shedding is normal but what they eat has a lot to do with the amount of their shedding their fur. Just my opinion. Other than this, probably the cat may have health problems, only a visit to the vet would help.

I'm guessing your cat is shedding so much because it is summer time. Every summer my cats shed a ridiculous amount of fur because it is so hot outside. Once winter approaches they stop shedding because they need that fur to keep them warm.
Since your cat has a medium fur length I would suggest brushing him every single day to get that fur off. Otherwise he'll swallow it from bathing and cough of furballs.
It's just a coincidence that you switched your food during the summer season. I doubt that food is related to the problem. Good Luck!

It's probably a little bit of both, but it sounds to me like the food switch is the culprit. I believe low nutrition can contribute to hair loss in cats. Perhaps it's his breed? It wouldn't hurt to get a second veterinary opinion regardless.

could be the food but it might be he is shedding his baby hair. i would try a different food. i prefer iams or eukanuba. i have never heard of the foods you were feeding. did the vet check his thyroid levels . if its not functioning right the cat can loose hair

generally cats shed with the season and being it rather is a youthful kitten he possibly hasn't had the cycle of seasons in his existence yet..because of fact the seasons exchange you will see laying off interior the summertime and extra fur enhance interior the iciness.
