I suggest you take an hour or two before bed to relax, that means no TV, phone, or computer. Just be calm, read a book that isn't exciting or scary under a dim light (dimming the lights signals the brain sleep is coming). Then, take a warm bath, add some lavender oil, you can also use that on your pillow, it is relaxing. When you do get into bed, make sure you are relaxing your body. Lay down and close your eyes, take some slow deep breaths. Just only think about your breaths and slowly release the tension in your feet, then legs, then butt, then stomach and so on until you reach your head and feel the tension go from your neck, head and shoulders. Sweet dreams.

If that fails, and I hope it doesn't, you may want to take a look at your life, is there something that needs your attention that you are avoiding that is bothering you? Be honest with yourself.

I was having a lot of problems sleeping at night and I went to the doctor and asks for sleeping meds. He would not give me any and told be a brisk walk before bed or any activity and a nice hot bath and go to bed. Not watch T.V. or things like that. Also he suggested a nature CD that works wonders it has water, ocean, wildlife sounds which ever works for you. I wish you the best

Get a cat - and let it sleep on your bed - the purring has been proven to be the most relaxing sound in the world for humans to listen to.... and from another insomniac I can promise you that it works.
