Hi Greg. I love this gift idea because its most likely unexpected (and girls absolutely love that!), but also it will be very meaningful being her first one ever from you.
Ok...no worries, here's my advice. Nothing too expensive...its awkward for her and too flashy in a new relationship. Something small and personal yet flirty...
Has she mentioned her birthday? I always love receiving gifts of my zodiac sign Gemini. They are special to me and that person is therefore special for recognizing my special month. Just check online to get the full lowdown on her sign.. but be sure to know her exact b-day cause the signs can change mid month. Jewelry is always a big hit and flattering to a women. And not just earrings and necklace stuff anymore...Decorate her body! Toe rings are very sexy, is her bellybutton pierced? if you think she is special then get her something special. What do you mean by safe gift? Safe for her or for you? Safe to prevent what? What do you want?
First you should find out what she means to you, and then the gift won't be a problem. The gift should symbolize your feelings towards her. Do not be afraid to show her that you're fond of her. There is nothing to be ashamed for in that.
Flowers are common to use these days. It shouldn't have to be a lavish gift also.
try souvenir shops.

The first thing I was going to say was give her some flowers, but you don't want to do that. You could still get a card that says alot but isn't all mushy. Guys have given me flowers, cards or made me something. They have even given me things like a stuffed teddy bear or something on that order. All of it made me feel great and special. One guy would put a single rose and card in my ice box when I wasn't looking and then he would ask me if he could have something to drink so I would see it. It is just a great feeling. Good luck.

Rather than a little token gift (flowers and everything else like them), maybe take her somewhere nice as a surprise to have a little picnic or share a bottle of wine (if you're old enough for that). A nice park, beach or something similar. Anyone can buy something...doing something nice (but not TOO big this early) means a lot more.

Get her something that's kind of 'silly'. Don't be afraid to try and get something very 'child like' for her. Something that she will look at when she's bored in her room and giggle. I suggest getting it while you two are together. For instance if you two go to some kind of arcade, make sure to get into that picture booth with her and make sure atleast one of the pictures is one of you looking like a complete fool. If you're at a mall find something colorful to get her. I can't get much more specific than 'colorful' but I hope you know what I'm getting at as it can vary a great deal depending on where you're shopping. Just get her a 'gag gift'. It's a good start.

a tiffany's braclet. Works everytime with the girls. There are some cool ones on ebay- but the packaging is abit naff. It depends on the budget- some men give flowers, but women suspect then that he must have a guilty concience or something to hide. never buy a girl flowers, it arouses suspicion.
What about taking her to a concert or show? She'll love it.
Leave little chocolates where you know she will find them, like on the top of her comb, or on her mobile, then ring her up so she will find it. Works everytime. *he he*

awww how sweet. Let's see what does she like? Buy her something that will remind her of you. A safe bet might be a little teddy bear. If she doesn't like animals then maybe a new cd of her favorite band or a new movie. That way you can plan another date to watch or listen to it together. You can also buy her some chocolates. You can also get something fun or jokelike like water balloons so you can have a water ballon fight.

Maybe some Perfume, or a necklace (it doesn't have to be real expensive - but, you can bet she'll check to see if it's real gold or sterling silver) so probably an inexpensive real gold or silver necklace would be your best option, or a bracelet (and that should be real gold or silver also) but you can find it inexpensive jewelry if you look around. And even some CD's of her favorite would be cool.

You know the type of gifts i've always appreciated were the ones that let me know you were listening. If i told you what my favorite movie was maybe buy me that dvd (if i dont already have it) if i told you that when i was a kid i always wanted a cabbage patch doll but never got one buy me a cabbage patch doll. If i told you my favorite book was To Kill a Mocking Bird but my dog ate it get me a new copy of it, you get the picture show her you listen to her and that you is the best gift of all
