Wondering about City or State laws regarding a juvenile delinqunet child in Chicago. If an underage child takes a car w/out permission and the car is reported stolen, can the child be arrested for Grand Theft Auto?

Yes they will be charged with theft. I don't know the exact name of the crime in Ill (it will be a state crime or law not city)

The child and the parent will have to go to court and the court will decide what should happen to the child

Yes. If the mother chooses to prosecute the child will be charged with joyriding, driving without a license and any number of more minor violations. Chances are, that 15 year old will spend at least a few months in juvie.

Yes, the child can be charged. In most cases the actual charge will be less than Grand Theft.

i doubt that ones own mother would press charges unless the kid is a real punk, but you would still be cited for driving w/out a license and you would not be eligible to get a drivers license until you are 18, so just wait until you are 16
