Have you ever been a customer and witnessed someone being really rude and condescending to a customer service worker and yelled at them for being rude? If so, what happened?

Yes, I have. A guy's pizza wasn't ready when he arrived to pick it up and he was going ballistic. I interrupted and said, "Sir, I don't think that's necessary or helpful." He told me where to put it, but someone else in the line applauded. It was hilarious and the guy blustered more probably out of being embarrassed. Before he made it out the door I said, "I'd hate to see him when something important goes wrong." I know he heard it, and he spun his tires leaving the parking lot.

I wouldn't be a BIT surprised if there was a non-food contribution to his pizza. As for me, I got free cinnamon sticks and 2-litre Pepsi.

I have never confronted the rude customer but I make sure that I am extra nice to the customer service worker and try hard to make them feel better. As a customer service supervisor however, I would never allow a customer to be abusive to someone in a lower group. I got paid more to take the abuse and I have pretty much heard it all while working at a call center.

Not yelled but definitely confronted.
Was at Food Basics (Canadian Budget grocery store). The kind of store where everything is still in pallets & you pay for bags & put 25¢ in the cart.
Customer ahead of me yelled at the Cashier 'cause the store didn't take Credit Cards just Cash & debit. Then when she told him (politely that grocery bags were 5¢ each he called her a fat cow. She was all of 16 years old and maybe all of 20 lbs overweight & obviously very flustered.
I stood up for the clerk and told him to back to the cave he'd been hiding in. Yeah I probably raised my voice. Not sure if I yelled. I'm sure a few curse words flew out of my mouth at him.

I was a custimer service worker and I've got in many fights with stupid customers. Police have been to my store on many occasions. The public thinks a person working in food service is a slave. It also doesn't help that I live in a hick state (lower Delaware) and I am Muslim. Rednecks in general have a thing against Islam. I am married to the owner of the store though so I could never be fired. I quit though because the stress was too much.

I work in a restarant, so I pretty much customer service. I haven't yelled at any of the customers. I had one guy come in last night and ask me for $5 million. Amazingly, he got mad when I simply told him that if I had that much money, I would not be working at Jack in the Box. The guy threatened to call the store manager on me.

I haven't run into an extreme situation yet. But I definately would. One time a friend of mine was going through a tough time. She went off on a waitress over a small thing. Since I knew my friend was already going through a tough time I did not berate her. However, I went up to the waitresses manager and apologized for my friend and let her know that the waitress was not at all at fault and said that I liked her service.

I've been that customer service worker and hell yes I've yelled at customers for being rude. Actually not yelled, it wasn't necessary, but I definitely put them in their place. Nothing happened to me and it was in front of a regional manager. I hate ignorant people and when working with the public, you tend to see the worst of them. F*ck'em though. That's what they get for being idiots and I'll be damned if any minimum wage job is worth putting up with their sh*t.

i have never yelled at someone else being rude to associates, because I am that associate yelling back. I work at wal-mart, and i've lost it a few times. the things that peeve me off the most are parents who assume that we are here to baby sit their brat children while they shop, or people that assume i'm stupid because i work here. my fav moment was the day i quit and i told my last pissy customer of the day that (and I QUOTE) 'Just because i work at wal-mart , doesn't make me your *****' ahhhh......
i felt much better.
