well for starters Astro is the prefix for space or the heveans but you do make an excellent point they could be called Plutiods pluto does have something to do with under if i am not mistaken lol good question!!

I believe, or at least I think, that they are called asteroids only when astronauts suffer from them............... I think I saw it on the link for Apollo13..............
