I have a 5 month old Maltipoo who eats Puppy Science Diet. Yesterday, I took her out for a long day of play and missed her dinner time by 2 hours. I still gave her her food and she seemed to want to eat it. She just ate and ate. I went away really quickly and when i came back, I saw a pile of the food somewhere else! I thought she moved it from her bowl there, but soon realized she had just threw up! She didn't even chew the food she ate. I gave her some pedilate and soaked her food in water for 5 mins. She seems okay now, but I guess I'd like to know why she isn't chewing her food? She use to chew on it cause I can hear the crunching! I am a little worried. She's already had parvo, so throwing up does not = parvo.

Sometimes an animal will simply eat so fast they don't chew. Since she was running behind of her normal schedule, she probably just ate too fast. Don't worry about it unless it continues to happen on a regular basis or she shows signs of discomfort or distress.

Sounds like your puppy is eating too fast or too much too quickly. You should just put her dry spread out on the floor so she has to work to get each piece, therefore eating slower.

Dog's taste buds aren't on their tongues like humans, their taste buds are in the back of the throat, so some dogs just swallow their food in order to taste it better/faster and don't chew.

The older your dog gets the larger amount if food it can swollow at once. So its probably because now your dog can swaller bigger foods than she used to. You should try finding her a different type of puppy chow of soak it in water everytime so it is softer and she doesnt choke again. Its normal that puppies dont chew their food all the time because they make puppy chow smaller.
hope this helps.

Get a bigger bowl and put some bigger Rocks in it. Big enough where he can not eat it. This makes the dog have to take its time eating because it has to work around the rocks to get to its food. It worked for me and other people I know.

Some dogs take their food away from the bowl and eat it later. If she seems to be getting thinner and continues to barf take her to the Vet.

She was probably really hungry and scarfed it down too fast. Also, I should mention that not all dogs chew their food. My parent's black lab pretty much devours everything whole, sometimes only chewing it once.

maybe she was overheated, and when they eat right after, especially too quickly, they tend to barf it up. next time offer her some cold water only and sit and relax her a bit. atleast until the pantin subsides b4 putting her food down.

She might have a sore tooth. Have the vet check her out.
