I rermember saying I would stop driving when gasoline got to 50 cents a gallon. And I would stop smoking when cigarettes got to 25 cents a pack. I still smoke and drive though. Yes Starbucks will be getting $10 someday, probably before gas is $10 a gallon. Thanks for the link!

sure, simple economics...when the minimum wage is $25 an hour, who wouldnt? Coffee was once a nickel a cup. As wages increase the cost of products will always go up. People we are not gonna get a head or catch up, never. 200 years from now a cup of coffee may be $100, but will be fine cause the min. wage is $250 an hour.
When coffee was a nickel, min wage was about $1...enuf said

I always see such long line-ups in the morning at the Tim Horton's drive-thru! I'm assuming other coffee places like Java Stop, Starbucks, and Second Cup are busy at that time too. Why don't people save their money, and just have their coffee and breakfast at home? Then people complain about living pay-check to pay-check! Pack a lunch too!

Ya know, even if it did, people would still pay :) I mean, goooood legal addictive stimulants and, in most locations, free internet connection. I think it's safe to say they've conquered the coffee/snack/snazzy hangout market a long time ago! I can see $10 a cup happening in New York and L.A. before it happens anywhere else, but not for a while. People need their tall Caramel Macchiatos!!!

If they do, they will go broke. Simple economics talks about supply and demand. If you raise the coffee to $10 there will be many substitions for that coffee. New businesses will pop up and sell for $5 or $2. Then Starbucks will be no more.

Perhaps, yes; though it's not pleasant to think about.
I would like to know, does anyone grow coffee in the continental USA? Can it be grown, say, in southern Georgia or Texas?

Only if they want to stay in buiness.
One cup = the cost of a gallon of gas now.
Would we pay 10.00 for a gallon of gas?
Better to invest in a good thermos.

Well, if they are headed towards $10.00 a cup, it's a big mistake for them. Good luck to SB
