in the recipes, they usually call for cream in pasta sauces and i'm wondering if that's the same as whippping cream because the supermarket only has whipping cream.

i dont think you would want whipped cream in pasta i think they mean more like that thick milk stuff

no they are not the same, but if you are trying to make whipped cream then use the heavy whipping cream. If not makeing a whipped product you can use either. Heavy whipping cream just has a little more fat in it to promote a better whippable product. If you are making whipped cream and are using an electric mixer becareful because if you let it go to long it will turn into butter and then it is no bringing it back. I suggest a ice cold copper or stainless bowl and a hand whisk.

I'm no cooking expert, but I'd say that if a recipe says "cream," it means the milk by-product that comes from off the top, which they sell in the dairy department of the supermarket. I've never seen a pasta sauce that contains whipping cream, which is a by-product of cream formed by mixing it with air.

Whipping cream used to be called "heavy cream". There is also a reduced fat whipping cream that won't turn out as rich of a product.

This is not canned milk nor evaporated milk.

Yes, you need to use heavy or whipping cream in your recipes or the reduced fat varieties.

if you're using it for a sauce, whipping cream will be fine. Don't add the whole amount at first, whipping cream is very rich, so you may need to cut it with a bit of water.

Fresh cream is similar to fresh whipping cream and you could substute one for the other if necessary. Add the whipping cream slowly - you may not need as much because it is thicker and richer than cream

Canned cream is completely different

whippING cream IS NOT whippED cream. WHIPPED cream has been WHIPPED, Whipping cream, means it is suitable to be whipped so it can turn into whipped cream or butter!

whipping cream and cream are two different products

whipping cream is normally used as a topping on cakes, pies, ice cram and things like that.

I use half and half in most dishes; if I'm making an alfredo, I use heavy whipping cream.

I don't think so.no it's not the same cream is heavy and whipped cream is for desserts..
