Do me a favor folks. If you don't know, don't answer.

There is no deep meaning. There is no "fruit of knowledge" story. Think about it, eating of the "fruit of knowledge" is actually a sin. Why would students do that? No, there really is no deep meaning to the apple.

Now, here is the real story. When education was first instituted, it was not free. No, there was a fee to education. However, most families were poor country farmers. Since food and services were considered more valuable than money, these would be traded for the tuition. Some Private schools and colleges still do this today. However, we now call this program the "Work Study" program. Well, this payment came is bushels of fruit and grain, or a new roof, or a cord of wood, or fabric for clothing. Well, back to the food. It was rare to give the food all at once since it will spoil. Therefore, the student would give an apple a day to ensure that the teacher would receive the full payment of food in fresh unspoiled produce. Since these days, the apple is considered a tip.

Giving an apple to a teacher is also the origin for the term "apple-polisher," which was first recorded in the late 1920s. Apple-polishers, also referred to as bootlickers or toadies (among other, even worse nicknames), aren't always favorably looked upon by other students. We suggest hanging onto the fruit, and using it to keep certain health professionals at bay.

because the apple is considered the fruit of knowledge. It goes back to the Bible (remember the first teachers were the clergy) The fruit of knowledge that Eve plucked from the tree of knowledge is thought to have been an apple.

Dear member,

it comes from an old saying, "An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away." So mothers started putting apples in their kid's lunches everyday.

Kind regards,
Ben
