The M-16 was originally designed by Eugene Stoner, its a semi-automatic/ 3 round burst assault rifle built by FN Manufacturing in South Carolina. Despite early jamming problems in the Vietnam War, due mostly to the fact that it was rushed into service unlike the Soviet AK-47, which had been in service for over a decade and a half, the M-16 has grown to be a well respected fighting implement on the modern battlefield. Current problems with the M-16 lay mostly in the ammunition, as it does not impart all its energy into the target. Thanks to its full metal jacketing, the round has excellent soft body armor penetration and soft tissue penetration, however the round often goes clean through the target without issuing much stoppage power. Aprx. muzzle velocity is 3000 FPS using a 5.56x45mm round. Accuracy is very good depending on manurfacturing standards of the specific maker, FN government models must shoot 10 rounds within a 4 inch diameter circle at 100 yards, other special marksman variants can close that down to a one inch circle. On the whole the M-16 is an excellent weapon that has been in service with the US military and many other countries for roughly half a century in its various forms.

It is the military issue assault rifle which fires NATO standard 5.56 mm ammunition, air-cooled, gas-operated, and magazine-fed.

for exact specifications you would need to be more exact since there are at least 5 variants (M16, M16A1 thru M16A4) plus the AR-15.

It is an overpriced toy made of plastic, a real weapon is an AK and you can buy 5 for the price of one M16
