My rule of thumb has always been to achieve aerobic fitness is that any exercise you do should get you winded and break a sweat and do it daily. That's unlikely to happen in 4 or 5 minutes.

You really need a minimum of 20 minutes per session, 3-4 times a week.

I'm really unfit so I do 60 minutes on the bike, 6 days a week - just cooling down, right now.

This wouldn't even get close to what I need to maintain aerobic or cardio fitness. It depends on what your idea of fitness is and goals for your body are. The best total work out would be swimming, if that doesn't appeal o you try jump roping that will get your ticker ticking!
