The majority of the scientific community claims the effects are real, and if we don't make some changes soon (within ten years) we might not be able to reverse the situation, all to the detriment of the world.
Now, it's easy to pass all that off as "hogwash", claim it's just a bunch of gibberish, and continue wasting our natural resources, polluting our air and water, and refusing to REturn, REuse, and REcycle just because we happen to reject the scientists' theories in favor of our own ideas. So we arrogant continue to waste all of Earth's precious resources just because we believe those resources are inexhaustible.
For those of you who think that way, please send me ALL of your money. I promise I will squander it as quickly and as needlessly as I possibly can, assuming that your financial resources are also inexhaustible.
The point being: whether global warming is a real issue or not, doesn't it make sense to try and protect and preserve the delicate ecological balance between man, plants and animals so that we can live on this planet as Nature (or an evolutionary 'big bang' process, or an intelligent designer, or God) intended?
Should we at least TRY to be a little more frugal with our oil, coal, wood, and mineral ores? Wouldn't it be common sense to recycle cardboard, plastics, asphalt, oil, used cooking grease, scrap paper, magazines, tin cans, phone books, aluminum, glass, steel, and all other materials that are not quickly biodegradable? No, I guess it's more practical (and certainly more convenient) to toss everything in the trash, pay to have it hauled to a landfill, where it will eventually leach toxic poisons into our air and water so our great-great-grandkids can wear gas masks so they can breathe clean air.
Don't forget: send me ALL your money! I'll waste if for you! Guaranteed! -RKO-

I believe it (probably) is. There have been extremes in temperatures throughtout the years, but the greenhouse gases have been accumulating to the point that it sure appears to be causing warming.
It is something so important that we solve, that there is no place for politics or the stubborness of different countries not cooperating. Including our own country.
This is not a silly question, there are still some politicians and some in the media that say there is no global warming.
Lets work to solve this problem!

Look at pictures of glaciers from 50 years ago and now today. Find out what all that cold water is going to do to the Gulf Stream.

I say no because my ecology professor gave a really convincing argument as to why global warming really isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

I didn't used to think so, but I've been reading as much about it as I can, and now I think that it IS affecting the earth - right now.
