Considering police in the U.S don't wear them all the time and guns are legal?

Criminals don't leave guns at home just because they are banned. Some US police do wear vests. It depends on how likely they think they are to be shot.

Maybe, since guns are outlawed, only the outlaws have guns..thereby putting the London police at risk.
As far as I can tell from news shows and such, all of the U.S. police DO have bullet-proof vests. But sometimes they don't wear them.

The police in the U.S. probably don't have the funds to supply every officer with bullet proof clothing -the technology is on the horizon for lighter clothing but currently, the vests,etc. are heavy,hot, and cumbersome-some cops don't like to wear them because of this.I don't think guns are illegal to have in the U.K.,just harder to obtain.None of the criminalscare about the law anyway!

When handguns were banned and citizens were required to turn them in the bad guys didn't turn theirs in. Duh!
When are people gonna get it - the old saw "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns!" is true - no way around that fact.
Britain and Australia have banned handguns in recent years and seen a dramatic INCREASE in handgun-related crime.
Another example of the Weak Sisters getting it exactly wrong!

The police in London don't want to take any chances.
It may be hard for Average Joe to get a firearm, but criminals don't care about laws and regulations. If they want a gun, they'll get a gun.

First of all most American cops do wear a bullet proof vest while on duty...
Second the bad guys in England still have guns. (do you think they care if it is illegal or not if he is a criminal?)

Because the British police know Criminals don't respect or obey laws. Those who oppose guns in the US can't seem to grasp that knowledge. All Passing More gun laws does is make it harder on LAW ABIDING citizens. Not the criminals.

British cops are smarter,and take no chances.And guns arent banned in the Uk just harder to get hold of and not a part of our constitution

becasue terrorists and other criminals smugle guns in. Most US police do where them, though you may not notice as most vests today are pretty small and easy to move in.

because there are illegal guns in those banned areas.
as far as I know US police are required to wear kevlar vests.
