I want to change/dye my hair before school starts again, but i have no clue what to do, and im kind of picky about the way it gets done. I have had pink, blue, black, all kinds of shades of reddish fuchia and such, and i currently have purple underneath. i have about 6 inch dark brown roots, that i would like to leave alone--the only part i want to dye over is the part thats already damaged. It would probably need to be something that can go over the purple, because i dont want to bleach it, and i dont like going to salons (to get it stripped). if anybody has and ideas on what i should do with my hair, please let me know. :):):)

Thanks So Much

I also don't want it cut, and the only reason im not letting it grow out is because i can't stand to leave my hair one way for long.

get some jazzing, it comes in lots of great fun colors. If you want to cover the purple you are going to need to stay close to the purple hue family because of the blue and red in it it is hard to cover, maybe try a cherry red color you'll probably get a Burgundy look. If you don't want any hue in your roots try putting a protein lotion on it called cholesterol in order to protect it, just avoid putting it on the colored area so that the new color will grab better. good luck.

Why not get a natural look? If your hair is dark brown, cut it and let it grow without dye. All that dye is only damaging your hair, and with all the colors you have used it is most likely to break.

If you have to dye it, try to dye it with a non-bleaching color and also, try to use wash out colors. This way you can experiment without damaging your hair further. I have noticed that once hair is brittle and damaged from the chemical dye it will also absorb the so called wash-out color. So chances are that you can try out a variety without further damaging your hair!!!!!!

How about either cutting it to give it a cute pixie do with purple bits? Or how bout going for another bluey colour? If all else fails, dye the purple bit brown to match your roots, and start all over again!!

How about showing off your beautiful dark brown hair with a new, stylish cut? (with maybe a few auburn highlights?) Go natural for a change. It can be really attractive, and help you stand out in a very positive light amongst all your friends who are still trying to find themselves.

I know you don't want to go to a salon but unless you want it really dark brown or black all over you will have to.

Go to a salon and have them match a color up with your real hair. Is that what you wanted?
