The 260Z was made for one year, 1974. This followed the 240Z and went through changes during the 74 year. There was a 74 model as well as a 74 1/2 model. Most 74 1/2 are 2+2 models. The 280Z followed the 260 with not only a slight increase of a motor but a switch to fuel injection.

Not sure of the years, but know early 70's. Had found one, which was a 1974 year.

Found a site, and some info, hope this helps. 1974 - 1978
The 260Z was effectively a 240Z fitted with a larger 2565cc engine, however now you could order a longer wheelbase derivative offering extra occasional seats, logically enough called 260Z 2+2. However despite the increase in engine capacity, the new "Z" was actually slightly slower, and less sporting, than its predecessor. While it remained on sale to global markets for four years, in the US (which was it's principle market) it was replaced by the lustier 280Z in less than a year.

The 240Z was introduced in 1969 with a 2.4 liter straight-6 engine, rear wheel drive, and a stylish coupe body. The engine, based on the Datsun 510's 4-cylinder produced 150 hp (112 kW) and came with a 5-speed manual transmission (USA model received a 4 speed manual). A 4 wheel independent suspension consisted of MacPherson struts in front (borrowed from the Nissan 1800) and Chapman struts in back. Front disc brakes & rear drums were standard.

Production began in 1969, the 1970 240Z was introduced to the American market by Yutaka Katayama, president of Nissan Motors USA operations, widely known as 'Mr. K'.

I believe the first 260Z i saw was after 07 / 1972. the 1973 Datsun Z had 2 Hitachi carbs and more smog equiptment that really dogged down the engine.
