well, i don't think it's "insane". If you suspect that your partner is being unfaithful and that you have good reasons to believe that, the only way to be ceratain that your suspicions are right is to verify- and how can you verify?
1. by asking- if u can expect for a honest answer
2. by hiring a private investigator
the second choice is usually the more accurate one!
It doesn't hurt to want to confirm this, except if your partner really wasn't unfaithful and the latter discovered you had spied on him/her...so beware and take all the precautions if you decide to go along with it!

I don't think it's insane IF you have sound reasons based on FACT to suspect your significant other. If you're just lacking trust and are paranoid then I think it could be something that would split up a good relationship. I know I wouldn't want my husband or boyfriend to hire a PI for no reason. If you don't have trust then you have nothing.

WEll I think it's kinda sad that your level of distrust in your partner has reached a point where you want to spy on him/her. I do consider it disrespectful to your partner, so I would not do it. Also, I think that spying on your partner will not bring you "peace of mind". I think that instead of spending money spying on her, you and your partner should seek counseling.
:-) Good luck

Not insane, but if the level of trust has broken down to that point, how much of a relationship do you have? And what are you trying to save?

it shows that you don't have any trust or faith in your partner. If they found out you would be gone like yesterday's lunch
(idk what the hell made me use that analogy)
