Can you defend your beliefs? Explain in detail.

I'm not asking you to defend your beliefs as if someone were attacking them. I'm just asking you to tell me why you believe what you do. I am unbiased and far from judgemental. I just want to hear what people have to say.

I am Buddhist and I believe in Buddhism because it made more sense to me than any other religion. I like what it teaches and I can explain it to others who may be interested.

I am a Pagan. I don't have dogma, nor a holy book. I believe that there is a higher power, an afterlife, and that we should live in tune to the universe. To further elaborate, I feel that our actions are more important (i.e. how we treat others) than what religion we choose to sign up for. Common respect and altruism are important to ensure order to the universe. (I adhere to the concept of Ma'at, which was put into place in the Old Kingdom in ancient Egypt.)

Why do I believe in a higher power? I feel that humans have souls and we seek to better ourselves and others. I feel that compassion, love, and respect connect us to the Divine. While I do not have tangible proof of this, my conclusion is based on personal experiences that only I have to account for to myself.

What about the afterlife? People have believed in an afterlife for thousands of years, before different dogmas in religions were formalized. I personally don't think that humans are clever enough to invent that concept.

As for Altruism? Selflessness ensures that other are comfortable, but one must not be taken advantage of by others. If everyone lived by this concept, everyone would be happier! By choosing an action or thought that doesn’t harm anyone, no one gets hurt and progress can be made!

I am an atheist which is not a religion. I do not believe in deities nor most of the philosophies of some theologies.

I did my homework, I read many religious texts, talked to many people including scholars and decided on the evidence presented that deities don't exist.

I'm LDS (Mormon). I believe in it because I have studied it out and prayed about it in earnest. (Read James 1:5-6) Explain it in detail? No problem, The Mormon missionaries have about 7 lessons prepared for that very purpose. They give 2 years of their life to missionary life, using their own money, at the age of 19. They are easy to find no matter where you live.

I am Pagan and follow an earth-based spirituality that closely resembles Wicca. All that I believe is evidenced in nature.
I do not need to defend my beliefs. Someone attacking my beliefs does not make my beliefs less valid.

I am a non religious. I read the Bible and believe. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that came in the flesh so no person should perish if they believed in Him but have everlasting life. I believe that Jesus healed the sick, raised the dead, made the blind to see and the deaf to hear. I believe when Jesus said to Peter come when He was walking on the water, Peter went but in his moment of doubt started to sink. I believe the Bible.

I am a Jew----------by choice, from Christianity. I believe there is a Higher being that ''started it all''. There is but one G-d, and none before or after him. G-d was and is and evermore shall be. His Angels and Prophets have led us thru the ages. That is all I need to state. Each person has his (her) own practice structure. We should respect that.
