Contact the Army and ask them if they have records regarding him. They would probably have records of where he recieved basic training and maybe where he was initially shipped out. Also contact the historical association in ithe state where he resided. Finally, you could contact you the local V.F.W. in the area he resided :they could probably give you some info either from their records or tell you of other resources available.

Write to Central Records Office. Ruskin Avenue. Kew. Sussex. They will give you all the help and advice you need. If they are not housed there they will direct you to where they are. A fee of around £30 is payable when you finally apply, there is a proper form. Try to find his regiment and number if you can.

It might be a difficult process,

I know there are a place you can call and they will do the research for you. That's how I learned that I am descendant of Kenneth Mac Alpin, King of Scitland....

my ancestors fought at Manchester battle, and they rebelled against the Queen.

It is officials documents of the Queen, but i still wait for nearer event and ancestors...

Good Luck

Author Stephen E Ambrose has done extensive research in writing his books on theatre campaigns.
Look up the unit(s) your grandfather was in and you may find they have current associations for reunions, etc.
I assume he was in the U.S. military - but the others have similar veterans organizations.
