I was wondering if Diet Coke can expire. I don't know how long it's been in the fridge for, and there's no expiration date.

It will have a date on it, but will be good for several years past the date, unless exposed to direct sunlight. Then it will develop an odd flavor known as "light struck." Light struck really means that the intense radiant energy from direct sunlight has accelerated the oxidation process of the organic compounds used to make up the flavor of the soda. The flavors most effected will be citrus and colas, which are derived from citrus oils for the most part.

I would like to make a comment on expiration date on beverages. I worked in the beverage industry in the late 70s and early 80s. The company that I worked for distributed pop and beer. Beer always had an expiration date because of the yeast and it, pop never had one. Pop was sold in glass bottles and aluminum cans. Before the mid-70s pop is not sold in plastic bottles. Then in 1973 they invented the Polyethylene Terephthalate bottle. Within a couple years the pop manufacturers started bottling pop in these bottles. Manufacturers found for some reason that the pop and plastic bottles would lose the taste after a couple years. So the concept of dating the plastic bottles started. Pop manufacturers found that dating the plastic pop bottles increased sales. The manufacturers decided that if it worked on the plastic bottles to increase sales it could also work on cans and of course glass bottle went to the wayside. I remember the day that the owner of the distribution warehouse threw a fit because now he would have to purchase it inventory different. In dating of the cans with simply a marketing ploy. At that point is far as anybody knew then and I don't believe till this day there is any proof that pop in cans truly expires. So plastic bottles do get old cans do not.

Sodas usually don't have an expiration date, but they do get nasty! Especially, if they've been opened! In the can, they might last a month, however in an open bottle, a fews weeks at the most!

Soda, beer and anything with carbon dioxide can go "flat" after a certain period. I have purchased "flat" sodas at the supermarket, so
it does not take long. Read the can's label
carefully and you might see an expiration date!

yes soda expires, and no, you wont die from it, you might feel a little sick from it though. All the ingredients can seperate and the soda may even go flat. Throw it away and but new stuff.

I was in the military in 1963 and when we spent a few days in the woods,we were given some food in a can left over from 1945 .Scrambled eggs were in one can,I just couldn't eat them.I did eat the pears and they were good. The sea rations kit also included a small pack of cigarettes which I smoked,I don't remember how they were.As far as I know natural honey is the only food that we eat that don't go bad.
