Yes, at least you would be eating more protein. By the way, midges won't bite you if you take vitamin B6, (piradoxine). I proved this by not ever getting bitten abroad and that was the only factor which made be different from the others. I think it is the smell from your skin that they dislike. Smoke makes them a bit shy but I wouldn't expect anybody to start smoking to get rid of the little bleeders. Enjoy your din dins

As soon as I saw your question, I was going to say "They've been eating you, so why not get your own back on the bastards!" then I noticed that you'd already said that, but never mind - there's strength in numbers, as you found out with the midges!

Well Smart one's answer was maybe based on thinking you were making a joke about "midgets" which to my great ignorance I didnot realise until my friend told me that is a very derogatory term.(they like "little people" or Dwarves) so I looked this up and found that they like to breed in water or sometimes decaying matter...maybe don't eat your food or them. ...was it a pair ? provide privacy for them pull a curtain or something. Did you know they are more attracted to some people than others, something to do with perspiration. So your little chironomids are busy ,blind mosquitos, fuzzy bills...What will I do with this wealth of new info? That's right probably nothing ...so lets get back to enjoying Sunday.

For those of you who don't live in UK, in some ways midges are worse than mosquitoes. They won't give you malaria but they won't give up. They cover you in a cloud of biting little beasts and Deet doesn't work on on them. They won't harm you internally - eat the little sods - but they still won't suffer like you do.
