Hyperactive thyroid runs in my family. My mother's hair became thin as a result of going years without treatment.
I agree that you should speak with your doctor. There really isn't anything that you can buy in the store that will make your hair stop falling out. This is something that your body is going through right now and your doctor can help you more than any of us can! I would however, stop colouring or chemical treatments of any kind until your hair, your body, gets under control.

I have thyroid too and no hair loss at all !! Seems the hair dye has created all the problems. Dont use any hair dye at all. If you need to, use henna powder (mehndi) - apply its paste (you get it in powder form) onyour scalp for about an hour then wash off.

Since its a natural hair dye (made from plants) and does not have any chemicals it does not have any side effects. Rather its a natural hair conditioner. To control the hair fall, you can mix two tablespoons of each of aritha seed powder, amla powder and shikakai powder to about eight tablespoons of mehndi powder and make the paste with cooled black tea liquor instead of with water. It works wonders for hair fall and dandruff as well as a hair dye.

You get all the above stuff at any cosmetic / provision store in most cities in India. Try it for yourself and see the positive change in your hair...

My sis had the same problem. Her doctor referred her to a dermatologist who in turn prescribed a special shampoo for her to use to help with the hair loss.
