Because of Original Sin. In the bible, way at the "beginning" when Eve ate the apple, God said they had been shamed and they must wear clothes and leave the garden. And because we have been controled by christians for centuries, they brought "God's law" into our own laws. That's why.

Nothing is disturbing about the human body. Clothing practices are both cultural and religious in nature. Think about the Puritains. Different societies have different views on this. Europeans tend to be a little more progressive (i.e. women can go topless on the beaches), while some countries cultural and/or religious practices dictate that women must cover the entire body including the face. The U.S. seems to be somewhere in between. Too bad, you need to cover yourself up unless you're at a nude beach!

There's nothing disturbing about the human body, but there is a lot about it that people find distracting.

I can't imagine having a business meeting with everyone naked; we'd never get anything done, because we'd all be talking about how fat Mr. F. has become, or why Ms. A. got a Caesarian section.

If you're suffering from exhibitionism, for heaven's sake, see a doctor.

I chose to cover up. It's nothing disturbing about a human body, but what you ahve is yours and only yours. Why should I show off almost my entire body. Some women dress in such a way that it makes anyone loose respect for them. They might see a woman for only her body and that's not right. You are a whole person not a pair of legs for someone elses pleasure.

You need to cover up because it is cold sometimes, and it is respectful towards other people who hold different values.

If you are comfortable with your body, good for you! Most people are not. You should try and get a job modeling at a college in an art department, because they always have difficulty finding models for figure drawing. This would give you a chance to show off your body in a socially acceptable setting, and you could make a lot of money. (They pay models very well!)

Hey I had that hairdo on my avatar about a month ago! We could probably be twins! lol Cute!
According to the Scriptures, we ladies are to be modest. The whole idea behind it is this: Our beauty should come from the inside and not so much from the outside. The Scriptures talk about being a Christian in our heart, but if we dress so wild or crazy on the outside, people can't see Jesus because all of the attention is going to the outside, does this make sense? We are to dress as to please the Lord. Hope this helps some Blondie lol

Why is this under spirituality and religion - I am kind of sick of these questions - cause they have to be - we have sexual organs and it is considered indecent and even vulgar to walk around with them out - they are "private parts" for you and for ones that you love and care about to see - why wouldn't you respect that - your own body - why would you want to share them with everyone - what is that about- some need for attention?? No matter how nice or perfect you may think you are. It is sexy to cover things up, leave things to the mind - share them with people you love - why would you want to advertise to the whole world. Though if you want, I am sure there are some businesses you can take part in where you can be as naked as you want like porno stars, strippers, and prostitution.

There is nothing disturbing about the human body. In my mind it comes from the "guilt" and "sin" of religion. We here in America are MUCH more hung up over our bodies than other countries, especially in Europe. I'm amazed at how much fear has been installed in people in the name of religion.

You can do what you want. People will judge you on your sense of taste. Wearing something too revealing in some situations is not tasteful, just like having a mullet hair style will make someone look like a retard in most situations. Nudity is the greatest thing in the world, but there is a time and place for everything.

Ha Ha, nothing, it's the old fat women down the street that I think the laws are saving us from. LOL

Seriously, If I saw naked girls at work, then I'd never get anything done. It would be convenient to have the extra coat rack, but my work has got to be done. Also, I think that there would be a lot more sex crimes if people could go around naked. That is a bad thing!

Nothing! Some people look better
in the nude than others.
Depends how much or how little you put on,
you probably look sexier with some of your
body covered with colorful threads.
Besides who wants to run around
naked in the middle of winter?
Clothing is worn mainly for protection
from the elements.
