i has just brought an external surround sound system for my goodmans lcd tv (ld3250hd) but i can't get it to work.
the speakers work when put connected to the dvd player via l/r audio input leads but they don't work when conecceted to the tv.

i would like the sound to come via the tv then i can watch sky/dvd without having to swap the leads around, i have tried the left/right audio leads and also a single yellow lead that was supplied with the system but none of them will allow the sound to come through tne tv.
i am assuming the something is up with the tv but what?
any help would be grately apreciated

I checked the specs on your TV set and it should drive external speakers directly. It has 16W amplifiers (rather meager, but ok). I would guess that the output is stereo only, with no surround processor included. When you say you bought a surround sound system, does that include the processor and amplifiers? It does not appear as if the TV has outputs to drive external amplifiers (the specs I found were very limited in detail). You may have to go into the set's setup menu to select the proper audio outputs (they should be line-level stereo, usually with red/white phono plugs).

Whether it be vcr, dvd, tv, stereo, cd, or any of the remaining hookups
