Isn't it interesting that a "Christian" would call you an "idiot" and be so judgemental and hateful (fearful) toward another human being seeking to answer questions of their heart. Anyway. I have also wondered these things. I don't have any answers but, I work in a field where my whole life and the purpose of my work is to address the cruelties of people. This "badness" gives me purpose. If I say I am (basically) a truthful person, do I not owe something to the reflections of dishonesty, whereby I find myself in a truthful identity. I wonder if Lucifer is a teacher of these ideas who, like another answer proposed, was used by Christians to convert pagans. And yes, the Bible was written by "prophets" or so we are told. Think of how difficult it would be to determine the "truth" of a story today after it was perceived and repeated by 10 people, much less over thousands of years by people who sought control and wealth by telling followers that they would burn in hell for eternity if they did not believe everything they were told and if they did not tithe. I decided a long time ago, that if God were the kind of "parent" who would send one of his children to burn in hell forever because they didn't "get it right" while here on Earth, I wouldn't want to be there. Sounds like an abusive father to me. I, as a parent, and a human with such shortcomings in love relationships, would never condemn my child. I know God's love is far beyond mine and questions such as this one, for me, are finally chalked up to his "mysterious ways." Stay strong, truthful and let God teach you from your heart. Others will be jealous and threatened by you because they are not strong enough to close their ears and eyes to words and ways of man and open their heart and mind to God's perfect word, living now, in your heart.

Actually lucifer wanted to be GOD. and of course GOD was like.. oh hell no! You see there is only one GOD that made eveybody and everything so there can not be any of this I don't want to worship him stuff because I don't feel like it. It is that you have to because that is the person that gave you life & made everything possible for you. And the angels that went down with lucifer are just fallen angels that lucifer brought down with him sayin it would be a better place than heaven. You know free will. You can do whatever you want. Now look what seems to happen when people have this kind of mentality. Ex. THE WORLD. God shows us a way to live. Some of us don't always follow it all the time, but others don't at all. It is not because he wants to be in charge of our lives but to let us live the life he chose for us and that would be the best.

Before the Earth was formed, Lucifer, and Christ and all of us existed in heaven as the children of God, but without a body of flesh and bones. Gods plan was for all of us to gain experience by having a body. The question arose as to whether we should live by faith or by certain knowledge. 1/3 of the angels said certain knowledge was better because no one would make mistakes, and we would all come back to heaven after death. This is like having all the answers in front of you during a test. It may sound good, but what real experience do you gain?
Lucifer was the proponent of this plan, and he also said he wanted all the glory for this idea. When God chose Christs plan instead (faith and free agency), Lucifers followers rebelled because they didn't feel that they could pass this test. They were kicked out of heaven, and punished primarily by being denied the presence of God. They were punished secondarily by never being allowed the opportunity to have a body, like us. Since then, they have rebelled anyway they can to prove the folly of faith and free agency. We call them demons, but they were once our brothers

i like Ramon's answer that Lucifer had a activity to do. If God is all helpful etc how could something take place with out pleasurable some purpose person-friendly just to God. Hindus have self belief in Duality yet basically one God. If in creation there is easy and dark then there are in all probability non secular powers and identities that administration that ability. each and every thing although is project to the single God. i do no longer think of it is conceivable to revolt against The Almighty what stands out as the element. I do think of that it is conceivable to stop to comprehend God yet i'd wager God has purpose in that too.

I am surprised at mizzgreeneyez. You say look at the bible for true unbias depiction of lucifer. Are you retarded? That would be the most bias place to look. ANyway, yes she is a bad christian. The devil more than likely doesnt exsist, and the chracter of luicifer or the devil is just a way to give shape to everything that we think is bad.

God tested Lucifer to see if he would end up on a power trip, and he did, Lucifer and the other third of angels, aren't make in Gods image, and perhaps this was part of Gods plan.... this is a test planet to see where you fit in the new world.

This mess about Lucifer isn't even in the Christian Bible. Satan isn't even mention in the first few books. In Genesis, only a "serpent" is mentioned. All of these additional stories accompany the text.

as i've heard it, Lucifer got expelled, not because he refused to worship god, but because he refused to blindly do everything god ordered. apparently the story goes that after god created adam he was so pleased with his creation that he told lucifer to bow before adam. now, seeing as how lucifer was the number one angel, god's favorite, why would he bow to a pathetic little human like adam? he knew himself to be adam's superior in every way and he refused to humiliate himself just because god said so, that was his rebellion.
i'm not sure where i can find an account of the story, but i'll look.
here are some accounts (i tried to make them from different religious backgrounds):

satan was created because christianity wanted to destroy pagan religions. interesting how a religion OLDER than christianity had a horned FERTILITY god and then look there is some evil horned devil, lets burn some pagans. People should do some historical research not just blindly follow the first thing they're told

Read the entire story before defending Satan. He thought he was strong as God and maybe even more powerful, so God evicted him. Good for God. Amen.
