The sermon at my church was on psalms 27. There is a lot to the teaching. part of it was on how God is our shelter and protector and how when man tries to do evil or does evil against you can or when trouble comes your way, God will conceal us in His Tabernacle, In the secret place of His tent( which is the Holy of Holies). And in this place God will lift us up above our enemies.

It was on John 6:35,41-54 about Jesus being the bread of life. Our pastor brought our attention to the fact that everyone was complaining and questioning about Jesus being the bread of life. He talked about how they all complained all the way through these scripture verses. Then he challenged us to see if we could go forth from the church into the world this week and do our best not to complain since we have the blessings and the grace of God to sustain us,we really have nothing to complain about.
Thanks for asking and God Bless you this week.

We are studying Ephesians during July and August. Today the sermon was showing how Jesus, the Messiah, is eternally and tirelessly bringing everything and everyone together. He also shows us that in addition to having this work done in and for us, we are participants in this most urgent work. Now that we know what is going on, that the energy of reconciliation is the dynamo at the heart of the universe, it is imperative that we joinin vigorously, convinced that every detail in our lives contibutes (or not) to what Paul describes as God's plan worked out by Christ.

Today was about matthew. There is very little written about him, but knowing that he was Jewish and a publican(tax collector for the roman empire) that meant that he was despised by his fellow Jews and was not even allowed into the temple to worship God.

Jesus did not abandon him, but called him to him.

Much like many of us who believe that we are just not good enough for God. We may be sinners, but God loves us even if other people havn't figured out that they should love us.

Very much history, and also very much a lesson for all of us today. God uses those who allow it. Not those of us who think we have it all figured out.

I am agnostic, but the service I attended today was Lutheran. The spent a good deal of time in this service talking about the Bible being literal. This kind of disturbed me as I assumed Lutherans did not subscribe to literal interpretation. I will not be attending their services again. I will probably look to another of the thirty or so churches in my area.

If Jesus came to town today He wouldn't go to the churches, he would go were the sinners were.
