The vet has a medicine that you only put in once. It contains ivermectin. Or you can buy meds at a feed store that you put in daily for 7-10 days. If this is a puppy it needs vaccines and worming anyway so take it to the vet. If it's an adult dog be sure it has mites and not a yeast infection. Mites produce a black discharge. Yeast is brown and smells. Either way check with your vet.

Go to your Veterinarian, make SURE that it's ear mites, and IF it is the Vet will give you the CORRECT thing to put into his ears.
Do NOT try these solutions you get here, because you don't know FOR SURE what it is, without your Vet diagnosing it.

if you go the vet they will give you an ear wash that you use once a week..you then wait untill it dries and you put this ear mite medicine in their ear...you use it for about 4 weeks and the ears should be good...i still use the ear wash about once a month or whenever you see their ears are getting dirty...it is good stuff, and if i remember well, it didn't cost to much

Use a Q-tip with mineral oil, gently of course and do not try to reach too far into the ear, then a cotton ball with mineral oil to catch all of the loose ear mite dirt to clean the rest of the ear where the Q-tip cannot reach.

Buy a product from your vet / pet store. The brand I use is LEO. It is an ear cleaning liquid that you squirt into their ears once a week. Try that if even if it turns out not to be mites. It still helps to keep their ears clean.
