I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about a year ago, and have changed my diet and go on the treadmill regularly. Yet it seems I can't lose weight.

have you slowed down on the "amount of food" you consume?
have you joined weight watchers or another group that gives you low calorie meals?
have you changed your diet to vegetarian? (anf the fresh fruits and veggies that have "low" calories?
have you started taking chromium picolonate to make your metabolism move faster? (ask your doctor first to make sure it will work with any medications you are currently taking)

Realize that some medications you take will put weight on you.
Realize that spending a lot of time (even researching) behind the computer monitor will put weight on you.

Do you walk several miles each week?

Did you cut out coffee, tea, sweet drinks, gatorade and diet drinks (gatorade and diet drinks don't help you lose weight).

I went on a fruit diet and gained a lot of weight.

Realize that even though some diets say drink a lot of water that a lot of water weighs a lot and that weight will show up on the scale. I had to reduce my water to one cup a day.

Well, I'm not going to tell you what to eat because I don't know a lot about diabetes and what you can and can't eat besides sugar of course. I will tell you weight loss is all about the numbers and nothing else. It's black and white. You exercise more (energy out) then you eat (energy in) and you'll lose. People lose at different paces but you will lose.

P.S. Water, water, water. It cleanses you and, unless you have a predisposed condition, it won't make you retain water.

Maybe you have to do more time on the treadmill, or see a dietician on some ideas on how to lose weight on a diabetic diet.
