it means that its moving from the inertia and not being powered by the engine. Like when you go down a hill and you ''coast'' without touching the gas

The definition of coasting is putting transmission into neutral or otherwise disconnecting engine from drive train while moving. Some people do this while going down a long grade to save fuel. It is illegal and considered unsafe. You are also coasting any time you remove your foot from the throttle, as when coming upon a stop sign, of course that's ok. Cars that do not run well and need a tune up seldom die while running at moderate or higher rpm's they die at idle speed such as occures while coasting. Imagine going downhill at 70 miles per hour and engine dies. Away goes your power steering soon your power brakes and more importantly your air conditioner-don't do it

Allowing the momentum of the vehicle's previous speed to carry it without accelerating or braking. In a standard you would have to either put the car into neutral or keep the clutch depressed. In an automatic you just take your foot off the gas.

it's rolling without the engine being started (it's in neutral) or it's rolling without stepping on the gas, such as "coasting to a stop".
