I think that you just need to be with him on his birthday. My current boyfriend was with me on my birthday and at the time we weren't dating, but we are now. It was the best thing to have him be with me and at least I know that he wants to spend time with me.

If you have been dating for more than a month and don't know what he likes or what his hobbies are, you should be asking yourself some serious questions.
However, do not dispair, for I have a solution for you!
Pay attention to what he does on his free time. Does he play video games? Cook? Does sports? Read?
Take notes on what kind of things he has.
These are important clues to what he likes. This is real important if you want the gift to be special.

why don't you come up with some sort of romantic gesture to give him instead of a gift? you haven't been dating that long, so i don't know if a gift is exactly necessary. why not take him away for the weekend, or take him to a spot you frequented when you were a child or something cheesy like that?

If a girl got me a present after 2 months i might be worried, just give him a kiss and tell him happy birthday.

How about a night out, like dinner, a movie, a concert or favorite event, your treat?
I agree that the gift shouldn't be too expensive or too personal.

think about some of the stuff he may had told you before. things you know of him. Let's say, his favorite show is the Dave Chappelle's Show. If he doesn't have a dvd of that, then buy it for him as a gift. Or, just ask him what he wants.

guys are pretty much practical beings and do not really recognise the extra thoughts and effort you put into selecting a gift for him. just get him something that he needs to use now. a few years down, he would have forgotten what you got him, no matter waht.

The gift has to be something that u know he'll like. U can try asking him what he wants or ask hinm what his interests are. Sorry if I didn't really help. Good Luck! :)

tickets to a concert or game are good. or take him out to dinner and pay. or maybe a watch. maybe a watch is too much. try a framed picture of the two of you or a tshirt with a pic of you two on it.
good luck!

Get tickets and take him to see his favorite sport or a concert. Guys love recreation with their ladies. Get him a T-shirt while you are there! Make it fun!
