I have been dieting a doing quite well. The problem is that when I went to weigh myself, I had regained 3 pounds. I have been eating the same as when the loss was going on (eating VERY well and VERY healthy). Is this normal? I won't give up but I am a bit disappointed and concerned.

I have not been doing any type of excercise that would be adding body mass so that isn't a factor.

Are you working out, too?

The big thing with diets and weight loss is you need to change your program at certain intervals in order to keep the changes happening. In exercise, I believe it's called the principle of progression. Once your body gets used to the new food, it'll level out again. I'd say throw in an exercise program. Do cardio stuff. It'll help you burn the extra calories you aren't burning day-to-day. If you're already doing one, then amp it up. Run 30 minutes instead of 15, or do more sets in weightlifting. And make sure you're eating a healthy ammount becuase if you cut down on how much you eat, then you'll just lower your metabolism and your energy and make it easier to gain weight.

And remember, fat weighs less than muscle. While you shouldn't be gaining huge quantities of weight, it's more accurate to measure your body fat percentage or measure the inches you've lost. Not weight, which varies dramatically depending on how hydrated you are or (if you're a woman) what time of the month it is. There are scales you can buy that take body fat percentage readings. All you have to do is stand on them barefoot, and they're relatively accurate.

Ah.. that was my question some time ago.. I started dieting and I gained pounds.. why.. Well, I was working out at the gym(tread mill, etc) 6 days a week. Then i was told that yes, muscle was being formed and that takes on a little weight while I lose the fat.
