Jesus called his saved people sheep. Does that help answer your question? I personally think that people take comfort in not having to think such grand things for themselves.

When any religion is left subject to interpretation the level of truth it becomes the "rights of the believer". When the same doctrine in any religion is brought into a confrontational dialogue, the "winner" is the one with the greatest support base regardless of the truth. Our greatest strength is compassion through greater understanding regardless of which way the ball bounces.

No, nothing should be taken for the truth just because someone else says it is. Do your own research and go within yourself to find your truth. That's the only place it can be found. Not externally. Take the ideas from various studies and beliefs which serve you and discard the rest.

Official statements of faith are not scripture and many times do more harm than good. Most of them are erroneous no matter how well thought out. Christ talked in parables and I find the best interpreter is Swedenborg. The Universal Theology of the New Jerusalem by Swedenborg is the only church canon I need.

Absolutely not. Mans thoughts are not God's thoughts. Mans idea's of truth varies widely, as we can all see. There is one absolute truth, and it isn't found in mans idea's, or mind. It is found in God's word, and it is like a treasure buried in a field. We must search the word with diligence. And pray for wisdom, for God loves a man with a searching mind for truth, and always answers his prayer....EDIT... Two or more witnesses of scripture leads to the truth. not two or more witnesses of mans idea's.

I believe god does not require an army to tell us what to believe. He can speak to each of us.
