Camping in countrys outside North America?

Are other countrys as enthusiastic about tent and RV camping, or is it a North American fascination only?

I don't know this for sure but I think they are because I went to the grand canyon once and saw these people who had thier RV type thing shipped here from switzerland. Crazy
