Don't sweat it.
I'm an atheist but I pray at the shrine of St.Ronald of McDonald.
I asked him to make me fat and give me heart disease, seems to be working.

Food is a gift from God. So enjoy it - whether its Indian or otherwise.
Incidently, India is a big country with diverse cultures. Hence there is really nothing like typical Indian food. Each region has its own specialities and the options that u will get is amazing. For example there is very little similarity between North Indian food and South Indian food. So try different types of restaurants - north indian, south indian, konkani, hyderabadi, awadi, bengali, gujarati etc etc. U will have a great time if u have an open mind.
Enjoy!
Oh yes - Hindus have over 33 millions gods and godesses. That is because unlike most other major religions of the world, there is no organised body like the roman catholic church, or a single source of knowlege like Jesus, Prophet Mohamed or Gautam Buddha. Its a philosophy, a way of life. And u can never become a Hindu - u have to be born as one. So Hindus do not believe in convertions of people of other religion into their own. Neither can a Hindu convert to another religion no matter what ever ceremony he undergoes. U are born a Hindu and U die as one.

Of course it's okay. You don't subscribe to someone else's religion just because you like the way they put a few herbs and some meat together! Culture and Religion influence each other but are not tied to one another.
And I gather than the gods of the Hindu pantheon are designed to be stepping stones to the highest god. So they are steps on the way to understanding, facets if you like, rather than mutually exclusive gods.
Enjoy the curry!

Good point. You should also avoid Chinese food as a personal protest against internet censorship, lack of human rights and the Tiananmen Square incident.
While you're about it, avoid french wine, foods with garlic, and dishes such a Coq au Vin as your statement against the frog-eating surrender monkeys.
Why not go the whole hog (no pun intended) and boycott Pretzels and Bagels in protest at Israel's actions in Gaza, Lebanon etc.
Or - you could get a life!

There are multiple religions in India, Hinduism being the most popular. Think of food as being related to a racial group and polytheism as belonging to a religious group. Enjoy that awesome food without the guilt.

Eating one cultures food does not a believer of their religion make. Go on eating their food, pray to your monotheist God before hand, and don't feel an ounce of guilt.

I believe in one less god than you and I love Indian food. Much of India is monotheist anyway - Muslism and Christians are VERY large minorities.

Hinduism has many belief systems. Some are monothiestic. Some go farther and are monists. Still, the food is great, regardless.

EAT! Eat and be merry, for tomorrow we pray! Eating Indian food isn't against your religion, just against your want to loose weight! (nothing personal) Enjoy life and eat indian food to your hearts content. if you REALLY feel bad about it then pray. Ask your minister. Ask your vicor. Ask your parents. Ask ANYBODY, and I'm sure they will agree with me.
