Perhaps it is because he sees you eating in the kitchen and he wants what you are eating.

I had a dog that did that too, but instead of waiting to eat he would bring a mouthfull of food into the room where I was, drop it on the floor and eat it piece by piece. There is more than likely an emotional bond between you and your dog. He just enjoys your company!

He's made the connection between you in the kitchen and mealtime, he like having company while he eats, and he is happy to be with you. Nothing to worry about here, just a happy dog who obviously likes his owner.

well your dog is very loyal.... it wants to be with you 24 hours a day and im sure that he prob. follows you around the house and her prob. sleeps near you too.... the reason for this is just because your dog loves to be near you so when you give him food to eat he wants you to be there when he eats it.... if yuo arnt there he will prob. follow you out of the room... for now i think you should just stay there to let him eat while you are in the room and maybe gradually start getting the dog to do things on his own.

Our dog is like that. He must always know what we're doing and seems to think that if he leaves my side I'm going to do something wonderful - like wave a steak around - and he'll miss it.

dogs want to do whatever their owner does, so when you are eating, he eats. when you don't eat, neither does he. same thing with my dog. to help him, put just a little bit of your food into his dog bowl, and he may improve.
