"Religious tolerance is not religious indifference. It consists of valuing the right of another person to hold beliefs that you know absolutely to be wrong." Anon
Joseph Farinaccio, "Faith with reason: Why Christianity is true,"
"The American ideal is not that we all agree with each other, or even like each other, every minute of the day. It is rather that we will respect each other's rights, especially the right to be different..." Arthur J. Kropp, former U.S. Surgeon General
"Truth, not tolerance." Bumper sticker by Harbor House Gifts of Fullerton CA. The bumper sticker also shows a clenched fist on the left side and a cross on the right.
"To simply be tolerant doesn't feel too good. People should have a deep sense of appreciation of people different from them." David Odell-Scott, associate professor of philosophy at Kent State University.
"Religious tolerance means to refrain from discriminating against others who follow a different religious path. Tolerance is more difficult to maintain when you know that your religion is right and their religion is wrong." Anon

The real question here is not one of belief or not, and whether you respect Christianity, but do you respect other people and are you a human being or just some lowlife?
To some of the answerers, this is not a 'Christian' website, just as the USA was NOT founded on Christian principles.
Just like the technology used is not Christian. All based on scientific principles.
And the founders were atheists, deists and masons. Hope we got that clear now. ;-) :-)

In the Bible there is only belief, that is in God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. If we are to respect other beliefs, then how are we going to be sure of our own belief? In the Bible we are taught to love one another, love our neighbors as we love ourself. No one can see the Kingdom of God if they don't believe in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Revelation 21:6 - Lord Jesus said, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of lie. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars - their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death"

No, your right, it isn't in the Bible, it is in the American constitution. The right to freedom of religion. It doesn't even say that you have to respect anothers religion, just that you have to recognize that others have the right to choose their own religion, just as you have. Now, Christianity has gotten a bad rap, because of some holier than thou people, but that is not true Christianity... that is when people get on their high horse and try looking down at you. The word "Christian" means "Christ like". The whole point of excepting Jesus as your savior is to be like him, to serve God, to be humble, to pray with sincerety, and to claim your place in heaven, as well as to claim all the promises God has made to his children. I always say that anyone can be religious, but it takes someone special to be a Christian. That's because it is hard, and you are constantly bombarded with temptations and road blocks. But God says he will never put more on you than you can handle. The idea is to look to Jesus, not to mortals, he will not leave you or let you down. And I will staight up tell you, Christianity is my religion, but that I am NOT a good example of what Christianity is. Me? I'm on a crazy quest for fun for some reason, and have put my relationship with God on the back burner. My foolishness, I know. I just hope I don't die before I straighten myself out.....

(good question). They can be kinda touchy, but I respect everyone's beliefs christian or not. The important thing to remind ourselves of is that we are ALL part of the HUMAN RACE, which should be given as much dignity and respect as possible.

Jesus did say (and the concept is in the O.T. also) to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I'd say that includes treating people of other belief systems with respect.

Becasue to respect others' beliefs is a virtue. Did your religious belief teaches you not to respect others's belief. If so, you should question it.

don't you know that small christian children read this website which, incidentally is a **Christian** website? young christian minds are curious by nature and become confused when confronted by questions like yours. they are taught that christianity is the only religion worth respect anyway. little christian children are such precious things. please keep this in mind from now on when you have to ask a question. thank you.
