It is not what you do to your hair, but what you use and how often you use it that damages hair. So if you use a harsh chemical you will indeed damage your hair. The more often you use a chemical, the more you will dry it out, the more likely it will break. Not to talk about your scalp which can be injured as well by using too many harsh chemicals too often....
