yes, in a way it makes life easy for us. We go abroad, everyone speaks English. People in shops, cafés, hotels, everywhere you go, they all can't wait to try out their English.
It can be a little upsetting when you have gone to the time and trouble to learn another language and all you want is to try out someone else's language when you are in their country, and all you get is them speaking English to you.
It always amazes me that when you watch news or sports on television the politician, sportsman, or just passer-by inevitably speaks really good English.
It is a shame that on the whole in Brittain people are not interested in learning other languages. If you are not British and you go into a shop, a hotel or a café it is unlikely they will try to speak to you in your own language.
Your language is part of your heritage and culture, it is part of who you are and you should be proud of it. Don't curse it! and good luck with your English
(I learned Italian a long time ago and understand the question but unfortunately I don't have enough Italian to be able to answer you in your language. Scusi)
