Here's a question that gets our K teachers.

A child comes into you classroom with bruises on her face. The mother calmly explains that she has fallen down some stairs. She further explains that she has already been to the doctor and she didn't break anything. With a smile and a wave the mother leaves to an "I love you Mommy." from the daughter. What do you do next?

Good Question. There is no right or wrong, but it lets you into that teachers thoughts. (Generally, the one who reports immediately will not get hired.)

Here's another.

We have begun instituting the INSTILL curriculum. It seems to be working well, have you tried this curriculum? (Here's the trick, there is no INSTILL curriculum.)

If "No", then
Why not? (Doesn't matter what you answer, just say you don't know what it is.)

If "Yes", then
Really, wow, I guess your school must really keep you on top of things. Explain how you would implement the program. (You are already not getting the job, have fun with them.)

What kind of qualifications they have. What certifications, if any, they have. Are they certified to be a teacher in whatever state you're in. What they feel they can bring to the school as far as special skills go.

Stuff like that.

they would like to know what experience(s) you had with children, what techniques you'll use, and how you would go about maintaining classroom discipline; how long you've taught in kindergarten. In my preschool, I definitely would like to know how a prospective teacher could impart learning to preschoolers.
Her other skills, organizational, administrative or teaching skills.
