No, you do not generally need an IDP unless your national driving license is in a non-Roman font. Examples would be Arabic, Korean, Chinese, Russian, etc.

If you want to be absolutely sure you'll have to check with the individual provincial licensing authorities in Canada. If your driving license is in English or French, you will NOT require an IDP anywhere in Canada.

I travel extensively around the globe and although I do keep a current IDP with me, I've never been asked for it. But I carry one simply because if I don't, Murphy's Law says that someone is going to demand one whereas if I have one, nobody will ask.

It's cheap enough, better safe than sorry!

if your a us citizen no you do not need a international license if not check with law enforcment or customs
