I agree with everybody else that high school is important in the sense that it is the "bridge" to get you into a university (4 year school).

BUT if for some reason high school just seemed boring to you and you just didn't try even though you knew you could do the work that doesn't mean that all is lost. You can always go to a junior college then transfer. Some people aren't motivated in high school because lets face it, how many high school students are mature enough to really think ahead in their future?

If high school was hard for you then maybe college is not for you. Some people are meant to go to college and some people are not. There is nothing wrong with not going to college but it is important that you graduate to show something for the last 13 years of your life.

Now when it comes to high school politics and the clicks that is NOT important. Once you graduate from high school you will realize that some people in there are just full of it. Some people in high school make their problems to be 100x bigger than they really are and you just have to realize that there is life after high school...I think once I graduated from high school and got away from the whole social system there...I felt like I could finally be who I am. When I was in high school, my family was going through financial trouble so I never wore any trendy clothes and such. I didn't get to participate in many activities either. I can't really say high school was all that pleasant for me but after high school and when I went to college were the best years of my life.

Yes high school is that important. The average schooling for a person in the US is 2 years of college. You don't want to be too far behind. Plus you might get something (knowledge) out of it.

Yes. A high school diploma is extremely important in todays job market. There is a major problem with supply and demand in employment. There are less and less jobs due to out-sourcing into other nations, and more and more people willing to fill jobs as they graduate.
Most employers will take an application from someone with a G.E.D. and throw it into the garbage. The reason is they have people with degree's looking for regular jobs because they can't find a job they have a degree in, and a G.E.D. tells them that you were unwilling to spend 4 years in an institution that would have bettered your life. They believe that you would also be unwilling to spend time in their institution when the going gets tough, and training you took an investment of time and money, as well as training the person to replace you.

High school may seem dumb, annoying, pointless...

But just grit your teeth and try your best to get through it.

Why?

Because you don't want to look back on your life and regret not having completed high school. No high school diploma = life is harder (i.e., your job options are severely limited).

It's not as easy as one might think to "go back" and get your GED or "go back" and go through college. Because at that point, you may be working 2 jobs just to get by and not have enough money (or even the time) to "go back".

Get it done now, while you're young. While you don't have a bunch of jobs/responsibilities/kids. Just get it out of the way. . . if you're questioning it...

Yes, you need at least a high school diploma to get anywhere I think. Even if you don't plan on going to college, you should finish high school.

Yes, or a GED. Without it, you make significantly less money in your life, proved by statistics.

That said. Some people are outside the norm of the statistics, like actors, or musicians, or artists, - but they are rare.

Truly - HS is the foundation of being an educated Adult - no one will respect you if you don't finish.

yes - the grades determine what college you attend. But it's more than just a letter grade, it is a direct reflection on how well you study, learn & focus on a task...those are the important things of grades. Once you graduate college...H.S. grades really don't matter a bit
