Though your question needs some supplementary information for a meaningful answer to your requirements, overall selection of a candidate by any particular company is related to the candidate's suitability - in many ways - to the company.

The selector have those company's purposes in mind and choose an appropriate candidate from the available lot in a given time frame.

Hey Anand,

I guess you mean you are looking for a job, and you want to know what will make the company chose someone.

The more precisely you give that company what they are looking for, the more chance you have to be the chosen candidate. Read the ad or job requirements carefully. Show how you have experience and education that matches the requirements. From there, they will boil down the ones that match the requirements. That is when it gets tough. In an interview, answer the question! Be sure to remember exactly what the interviewer asked, and answer that. Don't talk unless that ask you to. And before you leave an interview, be sure to ASK FOR THE JOB (that is if you want it). Those things will make you stand out, above the other candidates. Hope this is what you were asking.
