It's good game but not worth the actual price of it.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking to buzz around at supersonic speeds and blow stuff like an arcade game, then MS Flight Sim is not for you.
However, if you're a fan of airplanes and are looking for a more "serious" flight simulator, maybe because you want to see what flying an airplane is really all about, then I'd definitely recommend it. True, it's not the most accurate flight sim out there (but really, nothing short of a commercial full-motion Level D sim is), but it's great for someone just starting out, and it's even fun for those of us who do have a bit of time in real planes. It'll show you the basics.
The program may be a little tough starting out, but there are some tools built in to make it a bit easier for first-time fliers. I haven't played 2004, but older versions also included a series of training flights, and I'd guess that 2004 has these too. They're quite helpful to those who've never flown a flight sim before. Another helpful feature is the "Land Me" option, where a virtual instructor takes control of the aircraft and shows you how to land it.
If you're going to get it, be sure to spend a little extra for a joystick; MS Flight Sim is next to impossible to fly using the keyboard alone. I'd suggest a "three-axis" joystick (one that twists as well as tips), but even a regular ol' two-axis stick will be fine.

I would say it is worth the price, very fun... especially if you like flying. If you haven't purchased it yet i would recommend waiting. On October 6th, 2006 Microsoft is releasing FLIGHT SIMULATOR X, a new flight simulator game. This version will have cars driving down streets, and the streets on the game are identical to the ones in real life. You will be albe to find exactly where you live. Over 20 different planes to choose from, including an ultralight if you can't use the instruments on a regular plane. Light glares and colour change are a few of the many features that will make this game, the most advanced of its kind.

If you want to learn a lot about how to fly, then yes. Although a computer screen and joystick cannot replicate actual flight. It does a pretty decent job. It has lessons that can take you all the way from Private Pilot to Airline Pilot. I fly in the military and although we use multi-million dollar simulators, we still go out and do the real thing because nothing so far gets it perfect.

Well, If you want to spend time flying all around...its great and acually quite fun if you have a controller for it... but if you get bored easily probibly not for you. The graphics are nice and how it was designed using real earth geography is a plus.. its your choice

As a pilot, I say apsolutely not. Its not even close to the real thing.
I know for sure that the cessna 172sp flies nothing like the real thing, especially on landing.

as someone who wants to be a future pilot, and owns the game, i definately reccomend it due to it being somewhat realistic (i know some of you say that it is not too realistic..) it may not be exactly what some airplanes may handle like, but its pretty close
