Everyone has social anxiety to some degree. for some, it is as simple as stage fright. There are those that are crippled by it.
Chances are, you are a touch too self-absorbed. Things happen to you, about you, and because of you. You are taking on too much credit and responsibility.....
If you are worried about what other people think of you, guess what.....THEY DON"T. Not unless you give them reason to. And not everyone is judging you or criticizing you, either.

So give people a reason to think good things. Be nice to people. Be empathetic. Give every other person you see, a compliment or say something nice. You will feel better about yourself if you choose to draw in positive attention. Smile at everyone, they will see you as approachable and friendly. It feels pretty cool, and you get a rush from overcoming social anxiety....
If you try to hide and blend into crowds, you hide your true personality and your wonderful redeeming qualities from the world. If you choose to be more extroverted, and focus more on other peoples' redeeming qualities, you forget to hide yours, and they shine through so that other people will notice them.
Positive thinking, smiling, and enthusiasm are contagious. Walk around imagining you just won a car, or a lottery.
Everyone makes a fool of themselves at some point, so if you stub your toe and trip, look around to see who's watching, then wink at them and bow, as if you were on stage.
Try this: Put a sock on the back of your shirt with static cling, or trail a 6-foot toliet paper streamer. See how people treat you. They are usually nice about it, and giggle knowingly, because most people have empathy. You will realize that minor embarrassments are normal and not that painful. The world doesn't end......
Have fun with this!

If your always shy in a crowd thats not really bad, not everyone is made to be a public speaker or to be really social that way. Try to find your strengths as a person (cause we all got some strengths), and go with them to wherever they lead you and try to avoid big crowds, Hang out with two or three or just one, whatever makes you feel comfortable !
