Can you remember as a kid the long long summer school holidays when time didn't matter, it just went on & on ...... then came the last day...... I was so depressed, bordering on suicidal at the thought of going back after all those weeks of freedom...... oh how I wish I was back at school now though ! Anyone else felt the same?

Yes, you're right. I feel the same.
When I was a child my summer holidays were long, interesting, not so hot. Today I don't realize where the time goes by. I wish I was a kid. I'd be glad to go back to school where I could meet my friends.

I'm back well before WW2, when summers seem to last forever. I just loved those days, there was a calm over the country, although a lot of unemployment and people had nothing of any value, but they were happy with their lot, but I hated school, it was rigid, but the education was first class with the same teacher for all subjects. I will never kick that, and really althouigh the world right now seems to be in turmoil, I wouldn't wish to return to the "good old days"

So hated the last day of the summer holidays and even though it is 35 years in March since I left school I still get that horrible feeling when its time for the kids to go back after summer break up, probably just a bad memory and brings it all back, you had to stay closer to home on that day, try not to break any bones cause you were going to school anyhow cause I am sick to the back teeth of you as moms said, you knew those horrible new tight school shoes had to be worn in for months before they stopped giving you blisters, you had to wear your uniform and not get it dirty or ripped, worst still you had to go back and face the bullies again, though like you I so wish I was back at school again for all the worries you had on your last day of freedom.

Yes. As a kid, summer was so fun. Then school started back and everything was bad.

Oh yes & now the holidays just fly by! As kids we had no-where to be on time or otherwise you just did as you pleased & had to please no-one.
I wish I were back at school, everything was so much easier & no hassle of money & bills etc.
The weather always seemed to be nice as well!

yeh i wish.... when u was younger you couldnt wait to be older but now i just say to my cousins dont grow up tooo soon!! id love to be back at school now no hassle or bills lol!! and your mum always dragged u in early so had to have a bath and make you try on the uniform for the hundredth time in a week!!

My parents worked full time... as a latch key kid inside the fifties... as a dogs body and chief cook and bottle washer for my siblings... I can assure you I was mighty glad to get back to school!

No, can't say I miss school at all. I loved college and university but school days certainly weren't the best days of my life

I hated and still hate the school holidays. I could NOT wait to go back. If I had my way there would be NO school holidays.
