From answers in both this category and in biology I have to say that:

1. They don't understand the scientific method.
2. They don't understand the meaning of the word theory.
3. They don't understand evolution as a theory.
4. They have never sought the evidence.
5. Almost all of them have little to no scientific training.

I also have to say they don't make it up as they go, because that would be independent thought. The repetitive non-arguments that you hear being spouted are simply second-hand rants handed down from preacher-men.

Creationism is the enemy of science, and no scientist (and I am one) would deny that.

There are 2 groups: those that try to justify the Genesis account (non-scientific) and the IDers, which is very scientific, and not necessarily Christian.

Read "Case for a Creator", it was a NYT bestseller. Very objective, and shows where the science is headed. Numerous top scientists are interviewed and the discussion reported. You will be blown away by it.

The interpretation of scientific phenomenon is depedent on mans perception of creation. Those that believe that God created the universe and everything else and want to close their eyes to the wonderful things that science can do are also blind to the gift of science that comes from God. There is yet to be a compromise in both school of thoughts.
I think they know what science is or what it can do but they want to set limits to the mind and will not want to explore furthur theories out there that threaten their thinking. It's I guess the discomfort of change and ideas that we are not used to or cannot be fathomed that scares them.

They believe in phony 'science' that supports their beliefs, but they avoid the real science which shows them to be wrong.
ID is an example of invented 'science' that's supposed to compete with legitimate scientific tenets. It works when they show it to other true believers, but not when they show it to free thinkers.

I think they tend to ignore science or find a quote from the bible ( which was written by man, the history of who wrote the bible and and who decided what would be in it is very interesting in itself) that supports their beliefs. Personally I think they're crazy.

Creationists use science in their defense. Evolutionists have many unanswered questions that creation scientists can answer. Why? Many evolution scientists use evolution as their foundation. This foundation leads many scientists to rethink their theories all the time.

I would recommend checking these sites. They are based on science.

They just believe what their preachers or president tells them. In my homeschooling circle, there are actually parents holding classes to help their kids 'fight the science.' It's pathetic.
