Ask your doc to culture the bug for sensitivity. That's the only way to find out which drug will work. Because they aren't always willing, you may have to be quite assertive about it.

It took a long time and a number of docs before I could get rid of mine. They kept saying, "Well, we'll try this." Or, "We don't really need to culture it, we'll just use this."

If you aren't getting treated properly, they go away and are back again soon, so find an infectious disease doc if your family doc says things like that.

**EDIT**
Pay no attention to those who say "You need THIS drug." The bugs develop resistance to different drugs, and vanco doesn't work on all of them. A sensitivity test must be done on a culture from the bug that is causing *your* specific problem.

You might have the doctor do a culture of that infection for it sounds like it has developed a resent to Dicoxicillin if that has happened you will most likely be put on zinezolid which will knock out any antibiotic resented infection

Ask your doctor about Vancomyocin. It's a broad spectrum antibiotic, and if you got it in IV treatments, i could be more effective. :)
