My mother used to make us something with salted cod fish, I have made it with fresh cod fish and it turned out about the same. She used to make it because I didn't like fish. The day before making this soak fish in salty water with a little lemon juice add. You will need; Olive oil, 1 onion sliced thin, 2 garlic cloves crushed, a teaspoon of each salt, pepper, oregano, 1 can tomato sauce plus one can of water, and a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste. In a medium skillet add oil enough to coat the bottom lightly heat then add the onions cook till lightly browned. Then add the rest of the ingredients to skillet. When it comes to a boil add fish. When fish is cooked let it stand about 5 minutes. serve this over white rice it's magnificent. What some people call poor folks food. But we never thought we were poor.

Hello there this is Sassy V,
I am not no professional cook, but love to feed my friends and family. I am not big fish eater myself, but being from Maine love seafood. Number one hun do not over cook your fish. Fish only takes a few min. Cod is not that stong, but stronger then some like haddock. If you like chowders make a chowder, and add some sweetness by sweating your onions, or i add just a hint of apple to mine, do not laugh. People eat my stuff all the time, when they do not like something. Another great way is to make a pouch out of tin foil , and through that fish in with some veggies or what ever your family will eat. Some salt pepper, butter lemon and grill. I hope I helped a little, recipes will become yours when you know what you like, and what your family likes. Add things to make an everyday recipe yours. Mine is the apple, not alot just a very fine diced slice or two. Hope your family enjoys the profit of someonelses generousity, by eating togeether and being thankful, for the lady who made it for them. Have your children wrap the pouches individually, they can design it their way.

Cod is the yummiest fish ever. Just brush some lemon juice and melted butter on them, sprinkle on garlic powder or Old Bay Seasoning, and broil until flaky. Serve with tartar sauce, for those who don't like the taste of fish!

first off if you do not like fish, no matter how you cook it---- it will taste like fish to you.the thought of you eating fish it will be like yucccccch---and fish will taste like fish, not "chix" or steak. or ham--although some people will cook it in such a way it will not taste that bad---thats what spices are there for---to wake up the flavor.
